PPS 14 - new thinking revealed

Minister Arlene Foster revealed latest department ideas in a statement to the Assembly on 11 February.  These ideas will be incorporated in the revised Draft PPS14 which will be issued for consultation in April.

Among the ideas floated are proposals for:

• Clusters of social housing in rural areas
• Greater emphasis on re-use of existing buildings
• Some relaxation of the rules on farm retirement dwellings
• Encouragement of retention of vernacular buildings
• Improving the design guidelines for buildings in the countryside
