Planning Minister Sammy Wilson announced that Planning Policy Statement 14 dealing with Rural Development is to be replaced by PPS21 which was published yesterday. PPS14, introduced in March 2006, placed tight restrictions on new dwellings and other development in the Countryside. Over 2000 applications, mainly for new houses, will be re-examined under the new policy, which is expected to come into force in April 2009 following a period of public consultation.
